Breast Implants and Hypothyroid Symptoms

Breast Implants and Hypothyroid Symptoms

I offer 1-1 Consults these days.

A couple of months ago I had a Skype consult with a client (Melissa) and could not find evidence of a genuine thyroid problem. I don't find thyroid problems in everyone I have consults with. I also don't immediately think of using T3-Only for those that do  have thyroid hormone issues. Sometimes T4 (Synthroid), T4/T3, or natural desiccated thyroid meds are all that is required. In Melissa's case there did not seem to be a thyroid problem at all. However, there were definite low iron issues (from labs and symptoms) and I suggested some iron supplementation and some other basic nutrients to cover the bases.

Melissa has just got back to me to let me know she has Breast Implant Illness (BII). The idea to consider this did not arise in our consult and I don't even think she told me that she had them. Why would she? It would not have seemed relevant.

She is a good, kind woman and wants to let others know about this issue, so she has asked me to say something about it.

The best way to do this is to use her own words, so here they are:

Melissa's own words (she gave me permission to use her name):

"Hello Paul!

I hope you are doing well!

I am not sure if you remember me, I had a consult with you about two months ago and we went over my labs and we were trying to figure out if I had hypothyroidism.  To recap my main symptoms, I went through major hair loss, brain fog, and low energy.  We figured out that the main culprit was low iron and probably stress but not my thyroid.

Since our consult I have started on the recommended supplements, hormones, and completely changed how I eat.  I would love to say that everything got 100% better but they have not because the real culprit is something I never thought of........my breast implants.  I am email you to try and get the word out to as many people that I can.

After doing much research I have found the sickness due to breast implants is called Breast Implant Illness (BII) and women are developing autoimmune diseases, Lymphoma, hypothyroidism, hormone imbalance, early menopause, miscarriages, Lupus, and the list goes on and on.

I am not sure if all my symptoms are due to my breast implants but I believe many of them are due to the fact that they are "foreign bodies" inside of me. I have found a surgeon who specializes in "explant" and taking the entire "capsule" out when taking out the implant.  A women's body naturally builds a barrier (capsule) around the implants to protect the rest of the body from this foreign body and I am finding out how important it is to have these capsules removed along with the implants.

The very sad and upsetting thing about all of this is that seven years ago when I had the implants put in I along with millions of other women were never told of the health risks.  In fact, I was told that they were safe and that if they leaked the saline would naturally be absorbed by the body......they forgot to mention that the outer shell is made of silicone and has different metals and other materials that are toxic to the human body.

In September 2018, one of the largest ever studies published shows breast implants ARE associated with rare diseases. The article is "US FDA Breast Implant Postapproval Studies".  Here is also a link to the US FDA  Q&A on the subject: https://www.fda.gov/medicaldevices/productsandmedicalprocedures/implantsandprosthetics/breastimplants/ucm241086.htm

There is also a chemist in Canada that has examined and studied implants after they have been removed and what he has found is astonishing!  Mold, fungus, bacteria all inside the implants.

What is the census where you are at? Are women returning to the surgery table to get these "toxic bags" removed or is this surgery still the top plastic surgery performed every year like it is in the US?  I believe in 10 or 20 years from now they will be banned and that the women from 1960 until they are banned have become the guinea pigs.

Thank you for the help you provided two months ago!"

I asked Melissa, if I could post her exact words and this was her reply:

"Absolutely! I am more than happy for you to use any information you need from me to get this information out. I do not mind if you use all the details you need about my personal situation.  You can even use my name and let people know that I can be reached through Facebook as am contemplating starting a blog about my journey to get this information out there.

To give you a little more history, I got my implants in March of 2012.  Life moved on without any health issues until July 2018.  I am finding that between 6-10 years is when many women start seeing health problems associated with their implants however, some women start having health issues right away.  Let me know if there is any other specific information you might need from me to add to your blog.

Thank you so much for doing a blog on this!  Information is essential for others to know what might be going on in their own bodies!

Truly grateful,
Melissa"

If anyone wants to contact Melissa they can message her on Facebook. Her Facebook ID is:

Melissa, also provided me with another document that discusses the links between cancer and breast implants:

I know the above will only apply to a small percentage of women but if this blog helps just a handful of women it would be a good result.

Best wishes,

Paul
